Hello everyone!

(Posted on GMF as well) I've been around for a while, figured it's finally time to say Hi. I'm Jordan, from Manitoba, Canada. I was a member of TeamSwift years ago, when I had my first cars, both a red (parts) and blue MK2 Turbo, along with a very rough twin cam swapped 89. The red car got stripped, it was completely rotten. As for the blue car, it was driven for a short time, and I loved it.

It's a bit of a long story, but the car was in need of rockers and a patch on a rear quarter. Friend of a friend, bodyman, volunteered to repair. He got partway through, and disappeared, i believe due to personal issues. It's been rather difficult to find someone willing to tackle a half finished project, so that car is still waiting to be completed, stored in my shop in pieces.

As the years went on, i often missed driving these cars, and have kept an eye out for another to pop up. There's not much around here anymore, and anything left is completly rotted. In the meantime, i freshened up one of the spare T3's i've had sitting around.

Last year, my girlfriend decided she'd like to have a vert, so i passively kept an eye also. Enter this car:

It's an NA auto, with turbo aesthetics. It definitely needs some love, a couple floor patches are in order at the very least. Hopefully it's salvageable, i haven't had a chance to hardly look at it since scooping it up last summer. Moving and renovations have occupied nearly all my time up until now. I did, however, come across a yellow parts vert(MK3 dash), and a very well loved MK2 5 door, both for nearly nothing, so naturally i had to grab them.

I saw this one recently on Suzuki Swift Life Canada FB, spoke a bunch with the seller, and made a deal. It's on it's way here soon, hopefully see it by mid April. I'm beyond excited to finally have a clean, mostly original, running T3 again.

That's a pretty long winded intro, so I'll leave it at that for now.

Welcome to the fun. Love the pictures. Don't suppose you have any of the old TeamSwift info or threads hanging around? Ivan was not able to save it all.

Thanks guys.

I don't unfortunately. There was such a wealth of knowledge documented there. I'm sure you already know, but a small amount is available by using wayback machine.

Did you get that car from Paul H.?

Yes Paul, i did get it from Paul.

I understand that car was from PEI when he got it. It appears to be in good shape and close to original. The dealers just couldn't resist putting those graphics on anything with wheels in the day. I am in S'toon. We have a herd of turbos in town, come on over sometime.

Indeed, definitely hoping it's in as nice of shape as it looks. Carfax shows Newfoundland most of it's life, first registered fall 1992. PEI in 2018, then Paul. I'm not particularly a fan of the graphics, but i doubt i'll be able to remove them without a noticable difference in the paint. Thanks for the invite, we'll have to try make it out there.

i think it was pre-requisite, that the blue turbo cars got those fancy california graphics....only seen / owned one red one with those type of graphics...

The paint is thin on these but after you peel the graphics off it shouldn't take much more than a compound and polish and you'll never know they were there. OE wheel covers will be hard to find but not impossible if that's the route you choose. There is plenty of turbo help here, on the SSGTIREP forum and the Swift Life Canada group on Facebook. Whatever you do you'll have a ball with it.

The 90's was a really great time for really bad graphics ror

I've never seen another with those graphics. Are you guys saying they were added by the dealers? I just assumed someone was a little fast and the furious inspired.

I do have a set of the turbo wheel covers, they're a little rough though. Might need to track down one or two in nice shape. Probably gonna put the factory alloys on though first and see how I like them on a turbo car.

Graphics like those were a dealer installed item. These are Suzuki wheels 20210716_153214.jpg

Hi All,

Were the mid-wings a standard feature on the Firefly cars? Just curious.

Mind you, I'm even more curious as to how OP managed to teach his dog how to drive a Club Car Golf Cart!?

Good Boi!

Cheers,

Drew

the mid wing was a canada turbo car item....the pontiac firefly turbo and the chevy sprint turbo got the mid wing / rear wiper/ rear defogger as standard equipment, as well as the larger brakes, wheel studs, sway bars , really nice seats, charcoal interior, hubcaps with chrome lip, body kit and fog lights...and a better transmission....and remote hatch release..

all making for a nice little pocket rocket..... ;-)
