So I'm in need of one or two regulars to the site who are willing to help stamp out spam, that's the entire job description there is no real need to moderate the site here etc because we are all big boys and girls and play nice of our own accord for the most part. However, the spammers are a fairly regular thing.
If you sign up for this job it's very simple I'll give you some special privileges which will allow you to ban someone. We use an extension called ban hammer which makes this ridiculously easy to do you simply need to click on their profile picture and then on their profile page when it pops up there will be a big orange button called ban hammer, you'll click it once and it will pop up asking you to confirm. After you confirm, it bans them and removes all posts, content, messages etc essentially wiping them from the site. So if they have made multiple posts etc you only need to do this once per user as it removes everything they have touched. That's all there is to it.
So as you can see it's not technical at all, most of you put far more effort into writing posts and linking in images etc etc. It's really just as easy as clicking the report button. Anyhow I've had a hard time finding willing volunteers as they always say oh I have no technical expertise however, let me assure you absolutely none at all is needed for this and it just helps keep the site clean.
If you've made it this far, and are regularly on the site please consider reaching out to me about it. We have several people currently with these privileges however they are not active on the site at all so it is not terribly helpful.
