I got only runner # 3 done yesterday. I took a quick look at the other side and the possibility of running the wategate in instead of out. If I don’t have to modify the front bumper support that would be great. Runner #1 & #2 have no obstacles to plan around. However, I’m trying to get the connection as few of parts as possible. Overall, I’m very happy with how # 3 and #4 turned out. I might have to cut #3 free to weld up first, but the rest of the manifold is accessible to weld. 1 ¼″ is a way better choice over 1 ½″.

I got runner #2 done today. Slowly picking away at it. The angles on this thing is quite challenging. One more left then I can get it welded up. I still have to piece the rest of the down pipe together, but that will feel like eating pie compared to the cutting of the turbo manifold.

Looking good!
Do you have enough clearance?
Ceep up the good work

I have a lot more clearance than before, with enough oil drain slop. The front crossmember should not get to hot anymore. The 3″ downpipe clears the radiator by a smidge. You have to buy a tight radius 3″ CLR tight radius for that 90 degree bend. The 2nd 90 degree bend you want the opposite. I’m going down to the shop to finalize the downpipe stuff including where the wastegate enters back in.

I have been busy and have not had much time to work on the project. Here are a few pictures of the new air intake:

Much better flow with just two 45 degree angles instead of two 90 degree angles plus having a 3″ turbo inlet got to help.

I also bought a K&N filter. It is way better quality then the other one I had including the hydro wrap bag.

Heading down to tack the down pipe together. Once I get that finalized I can test fit the piping for the wastegate re-entry. Once that is done everything is off to be tig welded.

Downpipe is cut to length and mostly tacked together. Pretty freaking cool having a 3″ downpipe that goes to 2 ½″ after the 2nd 90 degree right as it goes under the engine. I’m pretty happy with the angles. Neither one of the 90 degree bends are truncated and it is super smooth flow for what will equal very little back pressure. Tomorrow I will figure out the wastegate re-entry into the downpipe. Ideally I’m making that re-entry after the 2nd 90. I think I have enough piping to make it happen.

The downpipe is tacked together complete; freaking awesome, but sorting the wastegate dump to enter down stream further is challenging. I only have two 90 and it will be difficult to get the angles I need to enter in back down stream. I tacked the wastegate in place and played around with the connection but don’t have the fit yet.

I almost have the wastegate re-entry pipe tacked together. I ordered up a 1.5″ stainless flex tube today. It should be here tomorrow. I cut the re-entry to 45 degrees and ground it down to the curve of the 3″ pipe. I cut my last 90 degree fitting down to two 45 degrees and should be able to complete the right angles tomorrow. I can piece together the middle brace that the hood latch bolts onto, but I’m not sure if it will be of any use. I would have to bend a 90 degree fitting and weld it up to the remains of both ends. I’ll test fit to see how secure the latches is without it and make my decisions based off that. I have to cut down my make shift turbo heat shield to fit around the external wastegate. The Tial wastegate has optional watercooling, and I have looked into what it will take to get the waterlines to it (extra fittings; but probably worth it long term). I still need to drill and attached the narrow band o2 bung. I’m getting there, but it has been slow.
